Falmouth Education Foundation Fundraiser

Falmouth Education Foundation –Fall Auction, October 21st


Over the last 16 years, the Falmouth Education Foundation has raised $810,000 to support academics, athletics, and arts for the children of Falmouth. Each fall, FEF holds their largest fundraising event to raise funds to support this mission.
 
This year’s event will take place on Friday October 21st at 6pm at the Woodlands Country Club.

Book Discussion Group

Meet new freinds and neighbors at the Falmouth Library Book Discussion Group


The Falmouth Memorial Library sponsors a book discussion group that meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month from 1:00 - 2:30 pm.

These are informal discussions. You need not attend all meetings.

and find the upcoming titles that will be under discussion. The library has copies of the books and they are also available in paperback at local book stores. We look forward to seeing you there!

Falmouth Maine Fall leaf collection schedule

The Town of Falmouth is having its annual Fall leaf bag collection program.


Collection dates for the bags are as follows:



Friday, October 28th

Friday, November 4th

Friday, November 11th

Friday, November 18th



!! Be sure to place bags out at curb by 7:00 a.m.!!



Leaf bags are available in quantities of 15 per Falmouth resident (while supplies last),

and can be obtained at the Parks & Public Works Building, 101 Woods Road.



*Leaf bags are for leaves only. Please do not put brush in the leaf bags.*



REMINDER: THE TOWN OF FALMOUTH NO LONGER DOES A SPRING OR FALL BRUSH COLLECTION.

HOWEVER, BRUSH IS ACCEPTED AT THE TRANSFER STATION.

Transfer Station hours are: Tuesday and Thursday 12:00 pm-4:00 pm,

Friday 7:00 am-5:00 pm, Saturday 9:00 am-5:00 pm.

LunchBox Friends Program at the Falmouth Library

Bring a sandwich. Friends will supply beverages & desserts. Free and open to the public. Books will be available for sale & signing whenever possible.

PACE Home Energy Loan Forum. Learn how you, the homeowner, can finance and move ahead on energy-saving projects for your home using Efficiency Maine’s new low-interest loan program.
 
The program will be held in Town Council Chambers, Falmouth Town Hall, 271 Falmouth Rd., on Wed. Oct 5th from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.
 
Open to all greater Portland residents. Homeowners and community leaders are encouraged to attend. The event is hosted by the Falmouth Recycling and Energy Advisory Committee, the Town of Falmouth, and Maine Partners for Cool Communities. (REAC@town.falmouth.me.us)

Falmouth's Green Buildings Open House Tour - join us!

Green Building Open House Tour The Northeast Sustainable Energy Association’s annual Green Buildings Open House Tour comes to Falmouth and greater Portland! On Oct. 1, homes, businesses, and schools invite the public inside to investigate the renewable technologies and green building features being employed on site. Find out what worked, what didn’t work, what would they do differently?

Apple Day at Gilsland Farm!

Apple Day at the Maine Audubon at Gilsland Farm!


Join us for a day celebrating fall and Maine wildlife at our Apple Day festivities at Gilsland Farm in Falmouth on Saturday, October 1 from 10-2. Enjoy cider pressing, children's activities, live music by folk musicians The Sea Slugs, delicious and healthy food, face painting, a wildlife exhibit table, and a nature scavenger hunt.

At 10:30am, children's local author and illustrator Cathryn Falwell (author of Pond Babies, Splash, and Mystery Vine) will present a reading and activities from her new book Gobble, Gobble
 
Aat 11:30am, Ed Morgan a.k.a.The Music Man from the Children's Garden will perform original and classic singlaongs for children ages 1-99.

With climate change, toxic mercury pollution from coal plants just upwind from us in New Hampshire, and rising energy prices, Maine's people and wildlife need cleaner sources of electricity, and land-based wind power developers are eager to deliver.

Come learn how new energy facilities can be located and developed in a way that cleans our air and protect our climate, while also protecting our natural heritage, from a panel of environmental advocates, wind power businesspeople, and staff scientists from the Appalachian Mountain Club and Maine Audubon.
