FALMOUTH MOVING TO CLASS A


Pending Maine Principals' Association approval, Falmouth's athletic teams will take part in the Class A postseason next year in all sports except football and lacrosse. Beginning next school year, the cutoff for Class B is 704 students, which would put Falmouth in Class A. The school's boys' and girls' soccer and field hockey teams are expected to be classified in Eastern A to balance the regions, while the other sports will continue to play a Western Maine Conference regular season schedule.

documentary film Miss Representation

The documentary film Miss Representation will be shown at Falmouth Memorial Library. The film features stories and interviews with teenage girls and female celebrities discussing the portrayal of women in today’s media. Route One Concept Infrastructure Plan feedback needed

The Town of Falmouth has scheduled outreach meetings to discuss the Route One Concept Infrastructure Plan.

These four meetings have been organized for the community at large and businesses along Route One. They are especially geared to informal one-on-one discussions with business/property owners about the impact of the plan on their properties.   The meetings will be held on Monday, January 28 from 4 to 6 p.m.; Tuesday, January 29 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. and on Thursday, January 31 from 6 to 8 p.m.   They will be held at the Falmouth Memorial Library, Russell Room. In addition, a Public Forum will be held on Wednesday, February 27 at 7 p.m. at Falmouth Town Hall. FMI www.town.falmouth.me.us

Pine Grove Preserve tree removal

The Town of Falmouth will be hiring a forester to remove 68 trees from Pine Grove Preserve. These trees have been evaluated by a licensed arborist. The trees are scheduled for removal based on condition and safety related to the trail system. The trees scheduled for removal are marked with orange ribbon. Other trees are marked with white tags and scheduled for pruning and maintenance.




Forestry operations will occur in February and March of this year. The trail system will be closed during forestry operations.

The Falmouth girls' hockey team celebrates after winning the Dudley Cup January 1.The Yachtsmen and rival Greeley played through regulation and two overtimes tied at 3-3 necessitating a hoot-out which Falmouth won. The teams meet again on January 30.
