MEMORIAL DAY PARADE

Organized by the Falmouth American Legion Memorial Post #164
and sponsored by the Town of Falmouth
 
The parade will start at 10:00 a.m. from the American Legion Post, 65 Depot Road, proceed to Foreside Road
and continue south on Foreside Road to Pine Grove Park where ceremonies will include 
 performances by the Falmouth middle and high school bands and choruses.
 Refreshments will be served on the lawn of St. Mary's Episcopal Church.

Falmouth Memorial Library AFTERNOON MOVIES

AFTERNOON MOVIES
 
Falmouth Community Programs and Falmouth Memorial Library will be showing movies on a monthly basis.  Movies start at 1 p.m.  Pre-registration required as space is limited.  FMI please pick up flyers at either the Library or the FCP office. The next movie is scheduled for April 23 from 1 to 3:30 p.m.  There is no charge.

Would you like to have more confidence when using a computer, whether you use your own or one of the public computers at the library?  These workshops will help you with e-mail messages, photos and other attachments, assist yo in becoming more familiar and comfortable during the internet, as well as help you learn how to join Facebook.  Bring your laptop.  If you do not have a laptop, please indicate that prior to class and we will make every effort to accommodate.  The next class is from 2 to 3 p.m. on April 16.FMI and registration 781-5253

GREAT MAINE OUTDOOR WEEKEND - SUCKFISH BROOK CONSERVATION AREA DISCOVERY DAY


Come join experience an afternoon of outdoor winter fun at Falmouth's newest conservation area. There will be games for children, snowshoe hikes, hot cocoa, snacks, and outdoor activities for people of all ages. Explore woodlnd trails, learn about Falmouth's only northern peat bog, view beaver ponds, and maybe catch a glimpse of the vast array of wildlife and birds that make this property their home. A limited number of snowshoes are available for participants on a first come/first serve basis. WILD BIRD FEEDING 101 at Gilsland Farm in Falmouth

WILD BIRD FEEDING 101




On Wednesday, February 13 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Gilsland Farm at the Maine Audubon there will be a Free discussion of the common bird species that visit Maine feeders in winter. There will be discussion about the habits and habitats for keeping song birds in your yard year-round. The talk will cover seed mixes and various feeders to accommodate the different mixes. There will also be a short bird ID session.



Jason Harris is a sales manager with Kent Nutrition Group, the parent company of Blue Seal Feeds. He has introduced wild birdwatching and feeding enjoyment to customers for eleven years. Jason grew up on a working diary and vegetable farm in southern Maine and learned the habits and habitats of many wild birds as they nested in fields and delighted in seed heads of various grasses and grains. Falmouth Memorial Library groups


The Falmouth Memorial Library has "A Common Yarn" program every Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. which is a knitting class that meets weekly. Participants are encouraged to bring along their unfinished projects for a little inspiration and guidance. They plan to meet forever.

The library also has "The Flukes Uke Group" which meets weekly on Wednesdays from 5 to 8 p.m. Join the ukele craze by learning to play your own ukulele every Wednesday, beginning at 5 p.m. for alternating practice sessions and lessons. Bring your own ukulele. FMI http://fmlflukes.wordpress.com

documentary film Miss Representation

The documentary film Miss Representation will be shown at Falmouth Memorial Library. The film features stories and interviews with teenage girls and female celebrities discussing the portrayal of women in today’s media. First Annual "Shop Falmouth" Event!

Event activities:

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 5 - The 26th Annual Falmouth Community Tree Lighting will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Falmouth Village.
There will be cookie decorating, singing and a visit from Santa.
Honoring the holiday spirit, please bring a canned good to donate to the Falmouth Food Pantry.

THURSDAY - SATURDAY, DECEMBER 6, 7 AND 8 - The Theatre Company at Falmouth High will present, "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe". Show times are Thursday, December 6 at 7 p.m.; Friday, December 7 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, December 8 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the door: $7.00 for adults, $5 for students, children and senors. FRIDAY, DECEMBER 7 - Falmouth Community Programs is sponsoring a "Drop and Shop" for children from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Plummer Motz School.
The cost is $16 per child. Children must be kindergarten to Grade 6.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 7 - The Falmouth Town Council is collecting new, unwrapped toys and books for children in need this Holiday season from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Plummer-Motz School Office. The METRO TOY Bus will deliver your generous donations to WGME for distribution through The Joy of Sharing holiday giving program.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 8 - The Maine Audubon is sponsoring their extremely popular annual morning "Eyes on Owls" program. Naturalist Marcia Wilson and photographer Mark Wilson will present theowls. There will be hooting lessons, an entertaining slide show and a close-up look at several different species. The morning is tailored to young children.
This is one of the most popular events at the Audubon so you are encouraged to make a reservation at 781-2330 x 273.


SATURDAY, DECEMBER 8 - Family Ice will be open during the week-end. 

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 9 - Volksmarch - the "People's Walk" will start at the Maine Audubon Society at Gilsland Farm in Falmouth. Gather friends and family of all ages and enjoy this non-competitive walk.
You may chose a 5K or 10K route. This is a self guided walk that you do at your pace with a few treats and surprises along the way.
Walking routes are available the day of the event. Start time is anytime between 9 a.m. to Noon. Pre-registration is not required. FMI 781-2330

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 9 - "Wreaths Across America" will be coming through Falmouth Route One between 4:25 and 4:45 p.m. on its' way to Arlington Cemetery. The convey is made up of 50 vehicles including tractor trailers, motorcycles, support vehicles and police vehicles. The route of the convoy will disclosed in the Forecaster at a later date.

Maine State Ballet presents “The Magic Toy Shop”

learning about bats at Gilsland Farm

GOOD NIGHT NATURE
On Tuesday evening, October 30 from 6:30 to 7:30 join the Maine Audubon Society at Falmouth's Gilsland Farm for a pre-halloween evening learning about bats. This program is designed for children from ages 2 - 7 with parent or guardian. You will make bat wings and fly around Gilsland Farm seeking insects for nourishment and old trees for hiding and hibernation. The moon, or the light of flashlights, will cast shadows for a little creepy Halloween fun. This gentle moonlit hour is based around a bedtime story about animals of the night. Come in your pajamas, but be prepared to venture outdoors. You will play,sing, create art an have a snack before you head home to sleep.
