WINE TASTING at Rosemont Market & Bakery

WINE TASTING at Rosemont Market & Bakery

6/25 at 3-6 p.m., the Brighton Avenue store will hold a tasting that highlights the products we recently found on a trip to Spain; see below for details.
Rosemont owner John Naylor and Yarmouth store manager Ian Hayward just got back from an eye-opening trip to Spain; below is a list of what they found and loved, and had brought to Rosemont especially. Make sure to ask John and Ian about their travels!

ALL THESE WINES (with the exception of the Valderiz) ARE UNDER $15!

Rosum and Rejadorada Toros
Sa Ra Da and Sol E Cico
Castellroig Xarel-Lo
Valdehermoso and Valderiz Ribera del Dueros
Atope Monastrell
And do return to the under-$10 Enanzos -- Tempranillo, Chardonnay, and Garnacha rosè

In the Yarmouth store and check out "Ian's Picks", a mixed case of wine that changes weekly, according to manager Ian Hayward's current passions. It's a great way to learn more about wine, and save some money too.

The Maine Track Club hosts a weekly "Roasters Run"

Now that the weather is warm, are you looking for some fun ways to get outdoors and get in shape? The Maine Track Club Falmouth is always a great place to meet in town.

The Maine Track Club hosts a weekly "Roasters Run" on Saturdays at 7 a.m., starting from the parking lot of Maine Roasters Coffee on Route 1 in Falmouth. This is a great opportunity to discover the social aspects of running. All ability levels are welcome. Runners group themselves based on pace and then go out for runs ranging from 2-20 miles through Falmouth and Portland. The courses are well laid out; click here to download a map of the individual routes.

The runners congregate back at Maine Roasters Coffee/Freaky Bean after finishing to continue discussions or to get a cup of Joe to go. The runs are very informal, with the only formality being that they always start at exactly 7 a.m. all year long (come rain, shine or blizzard)! This is an especially great way to train for the marathon distance, running in the company of friends. Not a Saturday has been missed since its inception on March 4, 2004.

SCULPTURE at Maine Audubon, Gilsland Farm, Falmouth, Maine

SCULPTURE at Maine Audubon, Gilsland Farm, Falmouth, Maine

Art curator June Lacombe will once again bring stunning sculpture to the woods and meadows of Gilsland Farm this summer. "My goal is to find the right piece of sculpture for the setting so that both will resonate in new ways, writes Lacombe. "Sculpture can help us explore our relationship with our environment and give years of contemplative pleasure."
This year's featured artists:

Lise Becu brings a fluid, dreamlike quality to her work focusing on wildlife and women. She allows images to emerge while letting parts of the natural stone relief remain.

Inspired by his rich natural environment, Ray Carbone is an accomplished wildlife artist working in wood, granite and bronze. Sculpture scaled for the home and garden will be sited in the visitors’ center, butterfly and wild flower gardens.

Wendy Klemperer salvages industrial materials to construct expressive gestural sketches in steel. This exhibition features extirpated wildlife species including life size wolves, elk, caribou, and mountain lions along with native deer, fox and porcupines. Sculpture will be sited along the entry drive, woodland trails, by the pond and apple orchards of Gilsland farm, re-imagining these species on the Maine landscape.

An opening reception will be held at Gilsland Farm on June 5, from 4 to 6 p.m. Call June Lacombe at 207-688-4468 for details.
