When schools are cancelled due to inclement weather, all programs beginning prior to 4 p.m. will be cancelled. Decisions regarding evening programs will be made by 2 .m. and posted on the website www.town.falmouth.me.us under Community Programs/Falmouth Community News.   After business hours, please call 781-5253 and choose Option 6.

"Iron Twinkies" jazz band

A Big Congratulations to recent first-place finish by the Falmouth Middle School "Iron Twinkies" jazz band at the Maine State Jazz Band competition on Saturday, March 23, in Westbrook. The band has been named best in Maine for 12 years now -- an incredible run that even Falmouth's successful sports teams can't claim.

 

FALMOUTH FRESHMAN WINS

Falmouth freshman diver Charlotte Janelle won the 11-dive North division Southwestern diving title in February. Janelle tallied a score of 299 which was higher than even the top boys' diver. Janelle previously qualified for nationals at her first AAU meet this season, at the ZAP Diving Invitational, in Sudbury, Massachusetts in October.

FALMOUTH SOCCER STANDOUT CHOSEN

Falmouth girls' soccer standout Caitlin Bucksbaum was named the Gatorade girls' soccer Player of the Year for the state of Maine for the second straight season. Bucksbaum, who had 10 goals and 11 assists while helping the Yachtsmen win a third straight ClassB state title will attend and play soccer at Villanova University.

"Shop Falmouth 2013" was a success according to a survey response from all participating businesses and plans are underway for the 2014 activity. The Planning Committee chaired by Anne Theriault is looking for more people to serve on the Committee. FALMOUTH HISTORICAL SOCIETY LOOKS AHEAD

The Town of Falmouth will celebrate its' 300th birthday in five years. The Falmouth Historical Society has already started planning for the celebration. The society's Falmouth Heritage Project 2018 would create a center for genealogical research, educational programs, and a depository for community artifacts and memorabilia. The five acre lot at 60 Woods Road already features the Falmouth Heritage Museum and Barn. The Falmouth Heritage Project 2018 would add a third building, a picnic area and improvements to Heritage Park. FMI 781-4727

Foreside Garden Club

The next meeting of the Foreside Garden Club will be held on Tuesday, March 19 at 7:00P.M. at the Falmouth Public Library. We will have a speaker from the Cooperative Extension Service speak to us about invasive plants in Maine. All are welcome to attend this free lecture to learn about what plants work best in our gardens. Refreshments will be served, and a brief business meeting will follow the talk. Public Meeting for the Route One Sidewalk Project

Route One Sidewalk Project



The Parks and Public Works Department will be holding a public meeting on Wednesday, March 13, at 6:00 pm at the Falmouth Town Hall Council Chambers to discuss the Route 1 sidewalk project.



The meeting will discuss the existing conditions such as driveways, drainage issues, roadway width, and preliminary design/options.



Generally speaking, the project consists of adding new sidewalks along US Route 1 through the entire ‘flats’ neighborhoods. The new sidewalk is proposed to extend from the new Martin’s Point Bridge multi-use sidewalk to the existing sidewalk on Route 1 at Providence Avenue. As part of the preliminary design, it has been realized that the most feasible location for the majority of the sidewalk is on the easterly sideline of Route 1.
