Its basis is a proposed collaborative partnership between the Town and private property owners in the Webes Creek watershed (see watershed map on reverse side of the flyer) to find creative solutions to permitting requirements and associated costs.

Primary technical consultants are Woodard & Curran. Project partners include the Casco Bay Estuary Partnership, Maine Department of Transportation, TY Lin International, Falmouth Economic Improvement Committee, and Falmouth Conservation Commission.

The Falmouth Yachtsmen Male Athlete of the Year is Baseball Junior Thomas Fortier.
Coach Kevin Winship commented "Thomas has grown leaps and bounds since he was a freshman. He spot started and was more of a relief guy last year. He really came into himself this year and became our workhorse. Through hard work and determination he became our No. 1 pitcher. He executed three pitches for strikes and became our go-to-guy."
 
Female Athlete of the Year Track Senior is Jenn Serunian. At the Western Maine Conference meet against the best teams, Serunian won both the discus and shot put, setting the stage for a repeat a week later, where she was crowned Class B state champion in each event.

Maine Premier Soccer, Spurwink Services and the town of Falmouth is sponsoring a unified soccer camp Monday through Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Falmouth's Community Park.

Location: Winn Road, approximately 1/8 of a mile north of Falmouth Road.


Parking: There are parking facilities at all of the athletic field locations.

Description: Falmouth Community Park, 160 acres in size, includes an active farm, open fields, forests, multi-purpose fields, running fields, and two ball fields. There is a family cemetery on the property that dates to 1856.

Natural Features: You will travel through open fields and mature forests crossing streams that feature a small cascading waterfall in the spring of the year. A wide variety of plants and animals can be found in the park.

History: Most of Falmouth Community Park was acquired by the town in 1999 for its open space and recreational value. Portions of the park are still in use as pasture for a nearby dairy farm. The northernmost 40 acres were acquired in 2008, in part with Land for Maine's Future funding.

Allowable Uses: The park features nearly 4 miles of general use trails designed for cross-country skiing, hiking, snowshoeing and jogging. The trail begins in front of the first open field and continues along the perimeter of the athletic fields linked by bridges. Once past the athletic fields, the trails circle around the edge of the hay field periodically entering and exiting the forested section of the park that follows along a stream. A loop trail extends from the last field into the forest at the north end of the park.

Cautions: Deer ticks are common; care must be taken to avoid Lyme disease.

As the summer unfolds, the wildflowers change with the season. Take a walk at the Maine Audubon, Gilsland Farm in Falmouth in search of our local flora on Tuesday, July 24 from 8 to 10:30 a.m. This program will focus on using "Newcomb's Wildflower Guide to identify flowers.

"Newcomb's" is based on easy-to-recognize plant features that makes identification easy. If you own this book please bring it with you (other field guides are welcome too).

This is the third installment in the Audubon's summer wildflower walks. Participation in the other programs s not necessary, but will deepen your knowledge and retain your learning. FMI 781-2330

The Falmouth Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. A progressive department which embodies the philosophy of community policing, Falmouth is a rapidly growing community of approximately 11,000 residents located on the Southern Maine coast. Applications and employment information may be obtained in person at the Public Safety Building, 2 Marshall Drive, or by calling (207) 781-2300, or at the Department’s website;www.town.falmouth.me.us/police.

Minimum Qualifications:  Applicants must be at least 21 years old, in good health, have an Associates Degree or the equivalent of 60 hours of college course work or equivalent work/military history, and must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Applicants must have passed, or be able to pass the Maine Criminal Justice Academy ALERTTest. The successful applicant must also be able to pass a polygraph examination, a psychological test, medical tests and an in-depth background investigation. A physical agility test will be administered as part of the recruitment process. Any candidate who has taken the MCJA Physical Agility Test on or after March 1, 2012 may submit proof of a passing grade in lieu of attending the physical agility test. However, all candidates will be required to pass the Falmouth PD’s test prior to an offer of employment.

The Falmouth Police Department offers a competitive wage and benefit package including: lateral entry consideration up to the five -year step, health, life and disability insurances, as well as an MSRS Special Plan 2C (25 year, no age) retirement plan, educational, physical fitness, specialty  and EMT incentives, paid vacations, sick leave, compensatory time and 12 paid holidays.  The department schedule is a 4 day work week (10 hour days) with 3 days off.

The Falmouth Police and Fire Chiefs wanted to remind citizens that the sale and use of fireworks are not permitted in the Town of Falmouth, by ordinance. Please see ordinance below.




Sec. 10-4. - Use and sale of consumer fireworks prohibited.

(a)

A person may not use, sell or offer for sale consumer fireworks, as defined in 8 M.R.S.A. §221-A, in the town.

(b)

In addition to applicable penalties provided by 8 M.R.S.A. §223-A, violation of the provisions of this section is a civil violation punishable in accordance with section 1-14. The Town Police Department may confiscate and dispose of any consumer fireworks that are in violation of this section.

(c)

Pursuant to 8 M.R.S.A. §227-B, nothing in this section shall be construed to limit or regulate fireworks displays, as defined in 8 M.R.S.A. §221-A, or the issuance of permits for fireworks displays by the Maine Commissioner of Public Safety or a designee.
