UNIFIED SOCCER CAMP UPCOMING
Maine Premier Soccer, Spurwink Services and the town of Falmouth is sponsoring a unified soccer camp Monday through Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Falmouth's Community Park.
The camp brings together disabled and non-disabled players breaking down social barriers through a common love of soccer. The camp is free and open to players ages 5-22. FMI 671-5139 or toddwhitcomb2002@yahoo.com

Location: Winn Road, approximately 1/8 of a mile north of Falmouth Road.
Parking: There are parking facilities at all of the athletic field locations.
Description: Falmouth Community Park, 160 acres in size, includes an active farm, open fields, forests, multi-purpose fields, running fields, and two ball fields. There is a family cemetery on the property that dates to 1856.
Natural Features: You will travel through open fields and mature forests crossing streams that feature a small cascading waterfall in the spring of the year. A wide variety of plants and animals can be found in the park.
History: Most of Falmouth Community Park was acquired by the town in 1999 for its open space and recreational value. Portions of the park are still in use as pasture for a nearby dairy farm. The northernmost 40 acres were acquired in 2008, in part with Land for Maine's Future funding.
Allowable Uses: The park features nearly 4 miles of general use trails designed for cross-country skiing, hiking, snowshoeing and jogging. The trail begins in front of the first open field and continues along the perimeter of the athletic fields linked by bridges. Once past the athletic fields, the trails circle around the edge of the hay field periodically entering and exiting the forested section of the park that follows along a stream. A loop trail extends from the last field into the forest at the north end of the park.
Cautions: Deer ticks are common; care must be taken to avoid Lyme disease.
