Introducing: The Chronic Pain Self-Management Workshop

There are lots of reasons why a person might be experiencing chronic pain. People dealing with pain know how hard it is to get proper care and function on a daily basis. This six-session workshop provides an entire toolbox of specific and proactive self-management strategies with proven outcomes.

Topics include:

Understanding acute and chronic pain

Pacing: balancing activity and rest

“Moving Easy” exercises

How eating better can make a difference

Dealing sadness, anger and loss

Medications and other interventions

Communication and chronic pain

Getting a good night’s sleep…and much more

The workshop is taught by trained leaders in a small group setting. Participants meet for 2 ½ hours a week for six weeks. The workshop is open to adults of all ages and their caregivers.

The Chronic Pain Self-Management Workshop is a program of the Southern Maine Agency on Aging under licensure from the Stanford University School of Medicine.
